It is advisable to wear clothing that can be unbuttoned to expose the neck and part of the chest, so there is no need to remove the upper clothing. For convenience, it is better not to wear necklaces, chains, etc.

How is Thyroid Ultrasound Performed?

Thyroid ultrasound is performed in a lying position on the back. The doctor applies an ultrasound probe covered with gel to the patient’s neck and moves it to visualize the thyroid and surrounding tissues visible on the monitor. During the ultrasound, the size, volume, tissue characteristics of the thyroid, as well as the presence of nodules, cysts, or other abnormalities can be assessed. The entire procedure takes about 10 minutes.
